NEWS UPDATE/ DPS

On March 17 the closure of 41 Detroit Public Schools was announced. This includes k-12.
This $1million plan is suppose to reduce costs by eliminating unused space and support city plans for development in some neighborhoods.

Another 13 schools will be closed by 2012.

Kettering, Osborn, Cooley, CMA (Communication & Media Arts) and Northwestern. Northwestern will remain open but the name of the school may change.

It is said that Southwestern is listed to be closed by 2011.

"Bobb said he intends to hold community meetings starting March 29 to present the facilities plan and will wait for input from district residents on a new bond measure."
